Large Antique Mirrored Tray. Mirror and Metal. The metal appears to be gold colored with worn white edges. Measures about 25" by 16". The back slides out like a picture frame would so you need to be careful and pick it up by the handles. Very good condtiion. The mirror has some scratches.
This magnificent mirrored gallery tray is a commanding piece of service history, notable for its exceptional scale and architectural construction. Measuring over two feet in length, it was designed as a grand staging ground for silver coffee services or a suite of fine crystal decanters. The tray is encased in a deep metal rim that features a classic motif, providing a secure and decorative boundary for the expansive glass. A unique structural feature of this piece is the sliding back panel, designed similarly to a large-scale picture frame. This allows for the mirror to be cleaned or maintained with ease, though it requires the user to carry the piece by its robust side handles to ensure the components remain perfectly aligned.
The mirror surface bears the honest light scratching of decades of use, a gentle patina that softens the reflection and confirms its antique origin. This tray serves as a perfect anchor for a Contemporary or Victorian sideboard, offering a way to bounce light throughout a room while organizing various curiosities. Because of its generous proportions, it functions equally well as a stationary vanity base in a primary suite or as a dramatic centerpiece on a large dining table. This is a rare find for those who appreciate the weight and presence of early twentieth-century domestic service pieces, providing a timeless blend of glamour and practical utility that defines high-end decor.
This item is antique, over 100 years old. All measurements are close but approximate. I measure in quarter inches.
