Pair of 1968 Jim Beam Donkey Decanter: C. Miller Political Clown

Two ceramic donkey decanters in white clown suits with red polka dots and blue ruffled collars. The grey donkey heads serve as stoppers. The glossy glaze covers the playful, upright silhouettes. 1968 Jim Beam Donkey Container/Decanter. Creation of James B. Beam. C. Miller. Measures about 12" in height. I did not wash it. I don't know why there is a hole in the ear. Very good condition. I have 2, sold as a pair.

This striking pair of Jim Beam Trophy Whiskey decanters, designed by C. Miller in 1968, captures the playful spirit of mid-century barware collectibles. Each decanter features a charming donkey persona dressed in a festive, polka-dotted clown suit, complete with a textured blue ruff. These pieces were originally part of a political series, though their whimsical aesthetic allows them to stand alone as vibrant examples of 1960s figural ceramics. The grey, expressive faces of the donkeys act as the removable stoppers, maintaining the seamless silhouette of the character.

Displaying these as a pair creates a balanced, symmetrical look that is perfect for a themed home bar or a curated shelf in a game room. Their height and bold primary colors make them excellent conversation starters. For a contemporary twist, style them against a minimalist backdrop to let the bright red and blue accents pop, or lean into the era by pairing them with other colorful 1960s glass and ceramic collectibles. These remain iconic relics of the James B. Beam Distilling Co. legacy, offering both history and a dash of whimsy to any collection.

This item is vintage, over 55 years old. All measurements are close but approximate. I measure in quarter inches.
