1956 Royal Doulton Don Quixote Toby Jug. Measures about 7" in height. Good condition. Has a chip near eye, shown in photo.
This is the classic large character jug of "Don Quixote" by Royal Doulton, dated to 1956. A wonderful example of English pottery, this piece captures the wonderfully soulful and weary expression of the famous character from literature. Designed by Geoff Blower, the artistry is evident in every detail, from the textured grey armor of his helmet to his flowing white beard. The handle is cleverly designed to represent a lance and shield, completing the knightly theme.
Measuring approximately 7 inches tall, this is the large version of the jug, model D6455. It is a substantial piece that makes a wonderful display. This jug is in good vintage condition for its age; however, it is important to note that there is a small chip on the front near his right eye. Please be sure to review the photos carefully to see the details of its condition. The price has been adjusted to reflect this imperfection.
This character jug is a great find for a collector of Royal Doulton or a lover of classic literature. It serves as a distinguished decorative piece for a home bar, library, den, or office shelf. It would be a thoughtful gift for anyone who appreciates the story of the Man of La Mancha or the timeless craftsmanship of English ceramics.
This item is vintage, almost 70 years old. While it appears to be in good condition, there may be minor imperfections that I missed.
