Vintage Wood Carved Santa Figurine. Measures about 12" in height by 2.5" wide. Very good condition. There is a line around the base. I don't know if anything is wrong but I wanted to point it out. May be a crack. He seems solid though.
This striking hand-carved Santa Claus figurine stands as a soulful example of traditional woodworking, likely originating from the mid-to-late twentieth century. Standing a full twelve inches tall with a slim, architectural silhouette, this piece departs from the more rotund modern depictions of St. Nicholas in favor of a more classic, Old World folk-art style. The carver has utilized the verticality of the wood to create a flowing robe rendered in a deep crimson, accented by a textured white beard and a small, hand-painted evergreen tree cradled in one arm, adding a touch of forest-dwelling charm to the composition.
The figure displays a visible line encircling the base, which is a common characteristic of larger hand-carved totems. This mark often indicates where the artist may have joined two pieces of timber to achieve the necessary height or a natural expansion gap in the grain that has stabilized over time. Despite this marking, the figurine remains structurally solid and carries a pleasing weight. This piece is a perfect fit for a Country and Farmhouse holiday display or a rustic lodge setting where natural materials are celebrated. Its elongated form and muted, matte finish make it a sophisticated choice for a mantel or entryway console, bringing a sense of quiet, handcrafted history to a yuletide collection.
This item is vintage, approximately 40 years old. All measurements are close but approximate. I measure in quarter inches.
