Vintage Indiana Glass Carnival US Centennial Glass Plate. Measures 8". Excellent condition.
This stunning piece of Americana was produced by the Indiana Glass Company in 1976 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the United States. Known as "marigold" carnival glass, this plate features a beautiful iridescent finish that reflects shades of orange, gold, and pink when caught by the light. The central motif of a majestic bald eagle is highly detailed, surrounded by sunrays that emphasize its patriotic significance. Measuring 8" in diameter, it serves as a perfect example of mid-century pressed carnival glass, a style intended to mimic the look of more expensive iridescent glassware at a more accessible price point.
Indiana Glass was one of the few prominent manufacturers of these commemorative items, producing this specific eagle design as part of a larger collectors' series that also included images of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. This plate is ideal for display on a hutch or in a curio cabinet, but its heavy, durable glass also makes it suitable for serving during holiday gatherings or patriotic celebrations. It remains a popular choice for collectors of iridescent glass and those interested in historical bicentennial memorabilia.
This item is vintage, 50 years old. While it appears to be in excellent condition, there is the possibility I may have missed a minor detail. In the unlikely event I missed a major flaw I would reach out prior to sending it.
