Vintage Egyptian Papyrus Painting: King Tut and Ankhesenamun. Measures about 23.5" by 20". Artwork in very good condition. It appears that the frame was painted gold with the piece in it as there is a spot of gold on the glass. Some of the mat is bent inwards.

This vintage papyrus painting captures one of the most romanticized scenes from the Amarna period of ancient Egypt, depicting the young King Tutankhamun with his queen, Ankhesenamun. Hand-painted on authentic, textured papyrus, the artwork utilizes the traditional flat perspective and symbolic color palette—golds for divinity, blues for the Nile, and earthy reds—that defined the "Space Age" fascination with Egyptology during the late 20th-century museum tour booms.

The piece is housed in a substantial frame that has been finished in a brilliant gold. Reflecting its history as a cherished home decor item, the frame appears to have been touched up over the years, leaving a small, authentic spot of gold paint on the glass. The dark matting provides a striking contrast to the luminous papyrus, though it shows some vintage character with slight inward bending. This large-format piece serves as a dramatic focal point for a Dark Academia study or a room dedicated to global history and archeological aesthetics. It is a timeless tribute to the craftsmanship of Egyptian artisans and the enduring legacy of the boy king.

This item is vintage, approximately 40 years old.
