Z. Danjell was known for these mid-century "creations" that mimicked the look of excavated stone or ancient ruins, and this set featuring a bull and horse is a prime example of that Greek Revival aesthetic. The plaster has a wonderful, heavy weight and a pitted, sandy texture that plays with shadows when hung under direct light. While there are a few small dings along the edges, they blend into the intentional "weathered" look of the sculptural style. They are a sharp, sophisticated find for anyone decorating with earthy tones or looking for art with a bit of physical presence.
This set is vintage, approximately 60 years old. All measurements are close but approximate. I measure in quarter inches.
